Tilbrook is a village with a long history The settlement was recorded as "Tilebroc" in the Domesday Book of 1086, held by William de Warenne. Historically part of Bedfordshire, it was transferred to the county of Huntingdonshire which is now Cambridgeshire in 1888. The village name is of Old English origin likely meaning "brook" or "stream".  Until 1888, Tilbrook was in Bedfordshire, however on 30th September 1896 it was transferred to Huntingdonshire under the Local Government Act of 1886.

Nestled in the beautiful countryside Tilbrook is a small friendly village with a strong sense of community and a proud local spirit. From its charming historic buildings to the green spaces that bring neighbours together, Tilbrook offers the best of rural village life, peaceful, picturesque and full of heart.

Tilbrook is just over a mile to the north-west of Kimbolton.  The last census for the village of Tilbrook was in 2021 which recorded a population of 256 residents and the parish covers an area of 1,678 acres (679 hectares).  Tilbrook is one of the parishes of the District of Huntingdonshire and it's administrative centre is Huntingdon.

At the heart of village life stands the Tilbrook Village Hall much loved for its gatherings, celebrations, and local activities. The hall is available to hire for private events, clubs, community meetings and is regularly used for everything from coffee mornings and exercise classes to weddings and family parties.

Recently refurbished and fully equipped with modern amenities, the hall provides a comfortable, versatile setting while retaining its traditional village charm. Every booking and event helps support its upkeep and the work of the Amenities Committee.

The village hall and committee rely on the support and enthusiasm of local residents. Whether you’d like to volunteer, join one of our events or simply hire the hall we’d love to hear from you. Together we keep Tilbrook’s community spirit alive and strong.

The village parish church, All Saints, has a history dating back to at least the 12th century with evidence of construction in every century from the 12th to the 16th. The earliest parts of the church are 12th and 13th century remains of arcades. All Saints Church is a Grade 1 listed building. It is not mentioned in the Domesday Book but part of the north arcade dates from the 12th century. The chancel, tower and spire are all 14th century with some splendid gargoyles at the top of the tower. The church has a fine early 16th century rood screen complete with rood loft. The list of rectors sited near the entrance to the tower dates back as far as 1234.

When not in use the church is open from 10.00am – 3.00pm every Wednesday & Sunday. If access is required at any other time there is a list of keyholders in the church porch who will be happy to help.
